OK, it is not just because I am a photographer that I am missing from most family photos. I was a mom well before I took on that professional title. But let's face it, I'm sure many moms can relate to this situation. We are a wearer of many hats and family photographer is one of them! We want to make sure we capture the monumental firsts, celebrations, events and even the not so paramount moments. We want to document our children and family's story. The problem? We are nowhere to be found in our story! Our children are going to look thru these albums or digitals (yes, I'm cringing) and ask, "Where is mom?" Well guys we were behind the lens as everyone was yelling "no more pictures..not ONE more...I don't want to smile again..." Or simply because we were busy making sure everyone else looked picture perfect, we felt we were not camera ready. We thought our hair was a mess, our eyes looked tired because we had no make-up on or we had somehow let those 10 pounds creep on. Don't beat yourselves up ladies! That wine, cheese and chocolate got you thru to the end of those long days...it was worth it! I have come to accept it and wear the badge with honor.
But, you do need to be in the story. Most of you ladies are probably the glue that holds your family together. You are the one who makes sure everything happens on that over-scheduled calendar. You are the one wiping runny noses, getting laundry completed, preparing dinners and boxed lunches and baking those cupcakes for yet another fundraiser...
So, as a way to say thank you to all moms out there and that I understand what you do, I want to get you in the story. Let me capture you with your children...you can even put your husband or significant other in if you want, but hey they are already a big part of the captured story.
Mother's Day is next month on May 8th. Any mom who would like to try me out and book a session with her child/children now thru the end of May, I will take 50% off my portfolio session rate (a $125 savings). It's my best deal, but being a mom is a bigger deal.
Happy Mother's Day from one mom to another!
xo,
Lisa
P.S. Here's me on vacation last year with my family in The Bahamas...
